The J. Russell and Bonita Nelson Fine Arts Center is home to the ASU Art Museum and the Paul V. Galvin Playhouse, plus theatre and dance studios and a scenic and costume shop. 

The space was built in 1989 and honors J. Russell Nelson, ASU president from 1981-1989 and his wife, Bonita. The design, by architect Antoine Predock, won the 1989 American Institute of Architects Honor Award.

The Herberger Institute comprises ASU Art Museum, ASU FIDM, The Design School, The Sidney Poitier New American Film School and the Schools of Art; Arts, Media and Engineering; and Music, Dance and Theatre.
