Performance (Voice) (BMUS)

The BMus program in performance with a concentration in voice focuses on the study of vocal technique, literature and performance while emphasizing the skills necessary to pursue a career as a professional singer. The program includes extensive performance experience and opportunities to explore many different singing styles.

Career Outlook

Graduates are prepared to work in various professional and entrepreneurial capacities, including:

  • performing as a soloist, or a stage performer, or a choral singer or as a freelance musician in venues such as art galleries, churches, clubs, cruise ships, resorts, restaurants and theme parks
  • presenting school programs, or state or community arts councils as artist-in-residence
  • recording and studio work
  • teaching in a private studio and community program
  • working in music-related fields such as media production, music business, publishing, marketing or arts administration

Many graduates pursue a master's degree or a doctorate in music or in another professional field.
