Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center graduate degrees
Transdisciplinary programs at the MIX Center
The Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center in Mesa, Arizona, is home to three transdisciplinary graduate programs from three different schools at Arizona State University with courses from several other schools. The programs foster collaboration across fields through a shared core curriculum
What is XR?
Extended reality (XR) is an umbrella term that includes any intersection of digital and physical realities, including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR) and any immersive experiences that exist between these forms. These technologies and practices can result in a number of different product types, including video games, immersive cinema, data visualization applications for virtual reality mobile applications for augmented reality, physical spaces augmented with projection mapping or other interactive technologies, and many more.
Graduate degree programs
The graduate programs are transdisciplinary in nature, bringing designers, creators, developers, researchers and worldbuilders together in the creation of new worlds that take multiple forms. The three degrees below are housed in three different schools and include courses from several others, but they also share a core curriculum which allows students to build a multi-disciplinary team of collaborators.
Are you an XR artist looking for support beyond a graduate degree or a creator seeking to develop work in emerging media? We also offer the XRts Immersive Media Fellowship, which supports diverse artists, technologists and designers who drive social change through immersive experiences.
