School of Art

The School of Art in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University seeks a full-time 9-month (academic year) Instructor in Animation beginning August 2025. This is a year-to-year position and includes undergraduate teaching on the Tempe Campus.

Position Description and Essential Functions

The School of Art seeks a candidate with a rich and varied skill set in the field of Animation. The successful candidate is expected to pursue an active teaching agenda in Animation in multiple areas: storyboarding, 2D animation, 3D animation, or others. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to a dynamic and growing Animation program. The successful candidate is expected to teach lower and upper division undergraduate courses and instruct a variety of in-person, hybrid, and online course offerings. Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in animation or closely related field
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching in higher education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of animation principles

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated evidence of online and hybrid teaching
  • Demonstrated evidence in teaching across a range of media formats
  • Knowledge of the innovations and new directions in the animation industry including trends and current issues
