The Sidney Poitier New American Film School in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University (located in Mesa, Tempe and Los Angeles) seeks applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor, Creative Producing starting August 2024. This faculty member will design and teach undergraduate and graduate courses for film and media production and postproduction. This position will be located at two of ASU’s Poitier Film School locations, the ASU Tempe Campus and the Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center, in Mesa AZ.

The Sidney Poitier New American Film School inspires the next generation of diverse filmmakers and storytellers. This faculty member will design and teach courses that include learning experiences, assignments, and projects that allow students to apply creative producing principles. The ideal candidate is able to balance practical industry experience with effective teaching and academic contributions to provide students with a well-rounded education in creative producing for filmmaking. Teaching may include in-person, hybrid, and online formats. The successful candidate will supervise and mentor student projects across the School while fostering collaboration and creative problem-solving skills; maintain an active professional creative profile by engaging in meaningful research and creative work; contribute appropriate service to the School, Institute, and University; and participate in the faculty governance of the School. We are especially interested in applicants who are dedicated to advancing the ASU Charter, realizing ASU’s Design Aspirations and championing the mission of The Sidney Poitier New American Film School.

• Networking skills to benefit students through guest speakers, internships, and industry partnerships.
