Faculty job opportunity
Assistant/Associate Professor, Choral Conducting
The ASU choral program is committed to the evolution of the choral field, and this new faculty member will play a vital role in envisioning the future of choral music at ASU and in the profession as well as K-12 and higher education. The successful candidate will conduct choral ensembles and teach courses in choral conducting and pedagogy, including graduate conducting seminars, advanced choral literature and rehearsal techniques courses, and other courses depending upon the candidate’s expertise, and may teach and develop online and hybrid courses. We seek a colleague who will help us grow a robust cohort of students from across campus and the community, and, in collaboration with the School of Music, Dance and Theatre community, cultivate an environment in which all students can thrive. Our new colleague will help us expand degree and career pathways, support the best of what occurs throughout choral music, and connect in meaningful ways with public school and community educators and ensembles. This faculty member will continue their own research and creative activity; conduct, teach, mentor and contribute to our learning community at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; serve with others to forward aspirational goals; collaborate with faculty in recruiting undergraduate and graduate students regionally and nationally; manage the choral program budget and administrative responsibilities, and collaborate with various stakeholders to foster vibrant musical ecologies. The successful candidate will work effectively with the faculty and administration in service of the mission of the ASU School of Music, Dance and Theatre, advancing the ASU Charter and realizing ASU’s Design Aspirations.
