Anel Arriola is a self-taught artist who works predominantly with mixed media. She is also a community storyteller, poet, and writer. Her full time job focuses on improving the health outcomes in the Hispanic/Latino community through physical activity and nutrition research. Anel holds a bachelor's degree in Global Business (Leadership and Management) from ASU's School of Global Business. She is also an alumni of Valle del Sol’s Hispanic Leadership Institute and is one of Phoenix’s 40 Hispanic Leaders Under 40. Her current work in the MA CECL program focuses on creating a “storytelling bank” with and for Spanish-speaking residents in the Phoenix community.
What is something you’ve learned in the Mike Curb MA in Creative Enterprise and Cultural Leadership program that will shape your future work?
During the Mike Curb MA in Creative Enterprise and Cultural Leadership program, I have learned that listening to the community we serve, and allowing them to aid in the design and execution of programs, is key to creating successful and sustainable programs.
