Alex Nelson currently serves as the Deputy Director at the Arizona Commission on the Arts, helping to lead the agency’s statewide programs, services and grants. Most recently, her work there has included development of special initiatives such as the Strengthening Schools through Arts Partnerships grant program; Arizona Art Tank, an innovative funding program where applicants pitched their arts ventures to a live audience and panel; AZ Creative Aging, a three-year initiative for which the agency received a substantial grant from Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust; and AZ Creative Communities. Alex has worked as a teaching artist, museum educator and production manager. She is a graduate of Arizona State University with a BFA in Dance and BA in French.
