Roadside Attraction

More than 10 School of Art alumni participated in Roadside Attraction, an effort to bring art outside for Phoenix and surrounding communities. Two of the artists, Estrella Esquilín and Mia B. Adams, talk about their work and the experimental exhibition that included a self-directed, drive-by, bike-by, stroll-by, socially distanced, socially engaged art experience.

Violinist Seth Thorn, an instructor in the School of Arts, Media and Engineering, was awarded a patent for a violin shoulder rest he designed that lets violinists feel the sound they are creating.

Spotlight on alumni

Archinect’s Spotlight on 2020 Thesis Projects series features Selina Martinez, who recently graduated from The Design School with a Master of Architecture. In the Q&A, she shares how her work emphasizes the role indigenous cultures have on the built environment and how her thesis investigates “prioritizing the survival of Yaqui communities, culture, and knowledge.” She also talks about the challenges of completing her final project remotely.
