'WITNESS': Garth Clark’s Journey through the Ceramic Art Revolution

This special event is presented by celebrated author, editor, collector, gallerist and lecturer Garth Clark, one of the most influential and provocative voices in the field of international ceramics. More a one-person stage show than a conventional lecture, “WITNESS” combines Clark’s wit, erudition, deep scholarship and entertaining speaking style with a dynamic multimedia presentation of the key revolutionary moments for ceramics since 1970.

Garth Clark is chief editor for the nonprofit CFile Foundation, a global online campus for contemporary ceramics in art, design, architecture and technology. He holds his degree from the Royal College of Art, London and has authored, edited and contributed to more than 70 books on ceramic art, as well as 300 essays, reviews and monographs. Forthcoming publications include a study of Lucio Fontana’s ceramic oeuvre and "Mind Mud: Ai Weiwei’s Conceptual Ceramics."

This event is part of the Windgate Contemporary Craft Initiative at ASU Art Museum and is supported by the Windgate Charitable Foundation.
