'Trouble in Tahiti' — Student Lab Production

“Trouble in Tahiti” is a one-act opera by Leonard Bernstein that features a day in the life of Sam and Dinah, a young couple in a troubled marriage.

Written in 1950, the opera features a jazz vocal trio as Greek chorus and juxtaposes the idealistic portrayal of the era with the undercurrent of frustrated post-war relationships.

Running time is approximately 45 minutes. Recommended for ages 12 and up.

Music and lyrics by Leonard Bernstein; stage direction by Stephanie Sadownik; music direction by Michelle DiRusso; music preparation by Danielle Hutchison.
