As an associate professor of practice at Columbia University in the City of New York’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation and author of highly acclaimed book "A Country of Cities: A Manifesto for an Urban America," Vishaan believes a more urban United States would result in a more prosperous, sustainable, joyous and socially mobile nation. He has successfully demonstrated these concepts through realized efforts in New York City, such as High Line, subway line extensions, improvements to the East River Waterfront and more.
