Opening Reception: [In] Progress

"[In] Progress" represents ideals of human nature conveyed through narrative and creative storytelling to offer a form of familiar sensation and spirit to the audience. Using visual mediums the artists here develop works based on their own personal experiences and reflections on how they interact in their environments. How the artists portray these environments from their own imaginative perspectives range from mixed media, digital media, painting and drawing and creating representational to abstract art. In the act of producing otherly worlds, there is an intention for the viewer to react to what is observed whether that be to feel a certain emotion or interpret contrasting ideas.
The artists exhibit factors in the process of making art by displaying different stages and growth in innovative abilities. From the title of this exhibition, the artists want to emphasize that in this completion of their scholarly achievements that they are too, like everyone else, still “In progress” of finding more endeavors to challenge themselves in their inventive practices.
