Mechanization, Material and the Matrix

Exhibition runs Sept. 18–29

Mechanization, Material and the Matrix will highlight artworks that take advantage of the wide range of opportunities in contemporary art practices, focusing on meshing traditional material practices and technology. In contemporary material based practices, there is an almost unlimited array of technical applications that expand upon traditional methods of thinking and working. These techniques can be used to explore highly conceptual ideas as well as purely aesthetic investigations of process and material. Mechanization, Material, and the Matrix will showcase the ways in which technology is utilized and discussed by different artists working across a spectrum of materials and processes and the resulting dialogue between technology and material.
