An alumnus of the School of Arts, Media, and Engineering; I work with Synthesis at ASU to create Responsive Media Environments. I participate in Synthesis affilitated research projects both as a software developer and a technical consultant. My main focuses are on design of realtime, interactive media systems; tangible, alternative control systems; and computational modelling for both scientific and artistic purposes. During my time at ASU I have helped to develop software control systems for the Synthesis research apparatus "iStage" (MCENT 222-224) and contributed to faculty led exhibitions which have shown internationally. My passion is for finding algorithms, methodologies, and techniques from other disciplines and incorporating them into the practice of interactive and responsive media.

How do artists and designers create spaces that react to their users in ways that extend beyond binary logics and decision trees? Can we enrichen the spaces where people live and work by adding subtle digital characters who respond to occupants without the need for a discrete interface?
In what ways can a simple change in media completely alter the perceived theme or message of an exhibit? How can we design towards affecting a change in mood or emotion with interactive media without the need to modify underlying software functionality?
