ASU Choirs 2021–22 season aims to lift all voices

Faculty and students in Arizona State University's School of Music, Dance and Theatre’s six choral groups spent the last year thinking about the ways people are oftentimes unintentionally excluded.

“We made changes to the structure of our program, we examined all of our materials and we had thoughtful discussions about what we need to do to live up to our desire to include all people,” said David Schildkret, director of choral activities and professor in the School of Music, Dance and Theatre.

ASU dance faculty member wins 2021 Bessie Award

LaTasha Barnes, a new faculty member in Arizona State University’s School of Music, Dance and Theatre, recently received a 2021 Bessie Award as an outstanding performer for her sustained achievement in dance. 

“Barnes is celebrated globally for her musicality, athleticism and joyful presence,” according to the nomination. “... She is an amazing dancer telling a beautiful and captivating story.”

ASU Gammage's The Local spring series brings artists together

The Local spring series will feature artists from the community as they perform live on the ASU Gammage stage.

Viewers will have the chance to tune into two remaining performances for the season. On March 17, the program will feature local artists T R U V O N N E and Roberto Cordero Jr., and April 14 will highlight Venus Clapback - Muse and Coco.

The spring series kicked off last month with singer/songwriter Alexis Janae and songwriter T. Harris.

ASU grad returns home in Disney’s 'Frozen' at ASU Gammage

Arizona State University School of Music, Dance and Theatre alumna Caelan Creaser returns to Sun Devil territory as an ensemble member and the understudy for the lead character of Elsa in Disney’s North American tour of “Frozen.”

From the producer of “The Lion King” and “Aladdin,” “Frozen,” the Tony-nominated best musical is touring across the country, providing audiences with sensational special effects, stunning sets and costumes, and powerhouse performances.
