'Something for every audience': 2022–23 ASU dance season features range of styles

This year’s dance performance season at Arizona State University will include a series of concerts highlighting works created by guest artists, faculty and students that “represent a rich variety of aesthetics, movement genres and concepts,” according to Mary Fitzgerald, ASU professor and artistic director of dance in the School of Music, Dance and Theatre.

12 Sun Devils off on global adventures through Fulbright program

Twelve Arizona State University graduates are embarking upon an adventure of a lifetime through the Fulbright U.S. Student program as they begin arriving in their host countries over the next few weeks.

Some, like Claire Agee, have already arrived in their host countries. After an 18-hour journey, the May 2022 graduate arrived in Lappeenranta, Finland, on Aug. 9, where she will soon begin a master’s degree in sustainable supply chain management at LUT university.

2022–23 ASU Organ Series celebrates female organists, composers of color

The Arizona State University School of Music, Dance and Theatre’s 2022–23 Organ Series is a celebration of the margins of the organ repertoire.

“We have a vast body of music composed for the instrument dating back to the 14th century, so it’s been fun to explore the many works written for organ by underrepresented composers,” said Kimberly Marshall, Patricia and Leonard Goldman Endowed Professor of Organ in the School of Music, Dance and Theatre.

3 ASU students awarded Killam Fellowships

Three Arizona State University undergraduates have been chosen for the Killam Fellowships Program, an exchange program that will give the students the opportunity to study in Canada during the 2021–22 academic year.

This year’s winners are Adam Chismar, Madisyn GoodBallet and David Lopez. The Foundation for Educational Exchange Between Canada and the United States of America, also known as Fulbright Canada, administers the program. The winners will receive up to $10,000 ($5,000 per semester), plus a health insurance allowance and travel allowance.

4 dancers selected to represent ASU at regional conference

Four Arizona State University dance students  Kyla Kabat, Isabella Lepp, Karla Marquez and Fernanda Viera — have been chosen to represent ASU at the 2022 American College Dance Association (ACDA) regional conference, which will be held at the University of Oregon starting March 23. The conference brings students and faculty together to share responses to choreography and performance.
