Encompassing programming, internship support, and experiential learning coordination, this position reports to the Assistant Director of Creative Careers and Assistant Director of Student Engagement within the Office of Student Success in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. The Experiential Learning and Internships Program Coordinator advises, guides, and assesses students throughout internship and experiential learning activities, conducts occupational and workforce development research, coordinates inspirational programming to engage students in exploring new opportunities related to their creative disciplines, and coaches students on preparation and synthesis of creative experiential learning. This position also recruits, trains, hires, supervises, and professionally develops the Program Peers, a peer-to-peer group that co-constructs events and initiatives to engage arts and design students in learning-by-doing as well as mentors and supervises the Internship Graduate Assistant. The Program Coordinator is responsible for facilitating participation in internships and preparing creative students for future goals after graduation. The Program Coordinator will approach all of their initiatives through the lens of equity by curating supportive environments for minoritized students in this position. The Program Coordinator also assists the Assistant Directors in designing, preparing, and delivering career development presentations, coordinating small and large-scale events, developing and maintaining campus and industry partnerships, serving on committees and planning groups, and coordinating special projects as assigned.
