The Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts requires all first-time freshmen to take a one credit hour course (ASU 101) in the fall semester designed to acquaint students with the mission of ASU, including our goals of fostering community and entrepreneurship, the scope of design and the arts on the ASU campus and in the surrounding community, and the importance of design and the arts in the 21st century. ASU 101 also introduces you to many of the resources available at ASU.
School of Dance students will satisfy the ASU 101 requirement through the required course DCE 170 First Year Seminar I. School of Dance students will not register for a separate section of ASU 101.
School of Theater and Film students will satisfy the ASU 101 requirement through the required course THE 125 Orientation to Theatre and Film. School of Theatre and Film students will not register for a separate section of ASU 101.
