To file your Graduation Planning Sheet (GPS)
STEP 1: Print a blank copy of the Graduation Planning Sheet.
STEP 2: Run a copy of your degree audit report (DARS). If you do not know how to run a DARS, please refer to these resources: DARS Instructions
STEP 3: Requirements on the DARS report that have green checkmarks next to them are requirements you have already satisfied; requirements with a red “X” are requirements you have yet to complete. Using your DARS as a guide, make a list on the GPS of each individual major, general studies, and elective requirements remaining to complete your degree. See example.
STEP 4: On the second page of the GPS, write the courses you plan to take in the future to complete all remaining degree requirements. List each course under the semester and year in which you plan to take it. These courses should be to the best of your knowledge and are subject to change if necessary. See example.
STEP 5: Schedule an appointment to meet with a Herberger Institute academic advisor.
Bring the following two items with you to your GPS advising appointment:
STEP 6: For School of Art students only. Submit GPS for faculty review and obtain the appropriate signature. School of Art students are required to have a faculty advisor in your major area of study review the courses that you have written on your completed GPS and your professional goals. Upon approval, the faculty advisor must sign the designated area at the bottom of the GPS.
STEP 7: Music Education and Music Therapy students only. Your advisor will submit your paperwork to the faculty in music education or music therapy for review. The faculty must approve and sign the bottom of your GPS. The faculty will return the GPS with any comments to your advisor, and your advisor will communicate with you if there are any problems with your proposed coursework.
