Assistant Professor James Shraiky of The Design School and Associate Professor Gerri Lamb of The College of Nursing and Health Innovation demonstrate the benefits of collaborative working across two distinct disciplines and play an integral role in mapping new healthcare infrastructure after genocide in the Great Lakes region in Central Africa.
Congratulations to Ross Lewicki, senior in jazz studies, for winning the external reviewer’s award for his composition, "The Misodoctackleidist"; Chris Light, sophomore engineering major, for winning the faculty choice award for his composition, "Insomnia"; and, Shane Maule, senior jazz studies major, for winning the student choice award for his composition, "Heavy Rain," in the ASU School of Music's fourth annual student jazz composition competition.
Guitars for Vets
The first Arizona State University student veterans to complete the 10-week Guitars for Vets program, Jonathan Jameson and Jason Smith were presented with the stringed instruments by professor Mark von Hagen, director for ASU’s new Office of Veteran and Military Academic Engagement.

These students are given a whole new warehouse of tools and a new environment to creatively fill, all while trying to make a distinct impact on the downtown community.
