Director’s Welcome

Herberger Institute Research Center

Welcome to the Herberger Institute Research Center, formerly known as the Herberger Center for Design Research. We are an integral part of the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, an exciting new institute at ASU comprised of over 300 faculty and 5900 students with more than 43 academic programs and allied research centers in its seven academic schools: architecture and landscape architecture; art; arts, media and engineering; dance; design innovation; music; and, theater and film.

The Herberger Institute Research Center is both advocate and connector for research activities in the Herberger Institute. Through the provision of sponsored project services for faculty, the center advocates for and facilitates the successful submission and completion of faculty grant and contract proposal work. As connector, the center provides a bridge across the wide scope and rich variety of institute research activities and a linkage between the many interests of its faculty members, as well as the ASU Art Museum, F.A.R (Future Arts Research) @ ASU, and Herberger Institute Community Engagement.

Whether you are a faculty member in need of sponsored project assistance, a staff member working on research and outreach activities, or a community member interested in further information and connection to Herberger Institute research, the center is here to assist you. As we expand and renew the content throughout these pages, I invite you to check back often and review the many interesting and diverse research activities, funding opportunities and research event announcements.

The Herberger Institute Research Center is pleased to support and enhance research in design and the arts. I welcome your feedback and ideas and look forward to hearing from you.

Warmest Regards,

Janet S. Holston
