Melissa Phelan is the assistant dean for student success for the Herberger College of the Arts. She provides support to the units in the areas of undergraduate academic advising, recruitment, retention and career planning. She is responsible for supervising and coordinating the overall recruitment and orientation processes, the undergraduate advising operations, the Herberger Residential Community and all matters related to student services for the Herberger College of the Arts.

Prior to coming to ASU, she spent five years at Ball State University where she was the Academic Major/Minor Coordinator. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Robert Morris University and a Master of Science in Counseling and Student Personnel from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
