Whether you practice music, architecture, dance, theatre, design, visual art or film, creative excellence requires both a mastery of your discipline and the development of your own creative expression. At ASU's Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, excellence and innovation unite and thrive within six schools, each devoted to its own creative discipline.
The Herberger Institute offers more than 45 undergraduate degrees and concentrations and more than 70 graduate degrees and concentrations in our six schools Art, Arts, Media and Engineering, Dance, Design, Music and Theatre and Film.
Our cross-institute programs offer students an opportunity for cross-disciplinary study. For students interested in a program that combines studies within design or all the arts, see the bachelor of arts in design studies or the bachelor of arts in the arts degree. For graduate students interested in an individualized institute-wide interdisciplinary degree that integrates graduate courses and faculty research expertise, see the doctor of philosophy in design, environment and the arts. Our distinguished research unit, the ASU Art Museum, supplements our academic areas.
The institute provides a combination of traditional and contemporary coursework as a strong academic base. This core structure is complemented by well-equipped performance facilities, professional opportunities and technologically driven curricula with an interdisciplinary focus. Our internationally recognized faculty encourage collaboration that transcends boundaries and gives students a multitude of opportunities to shine.
