CHAIRity
For eight years, the Interior Design Department has partnered with the city of Phoenix Family Advocacy Center for a “CHAIRity” event – a fundraiser for the work of the Family Advocacy Center, which provides support for victims of abuse. Receiving only $100 each for materials, teams of students design and build chairs inspired both by stories of abuse victims and artists or artistic movements. The chairs are auctioned at a benefit dinner attended by the students. Last year, the 11 chairs were auctioned for more than $7,500 in support for the Family Advocacy Center.
