The Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts kicks off its Homeoming 2011 week of reunions and amazing performance Saturday, Oct. 22 with a Tribute to Ray Charles by the ASU Concert Jazz Band featuring Chicago’s top jazzman, Perrian Jordan., as a special guest.

Herberger Institute Alumni Night at A Tribute to Ray Charles, 6:30-7:30 p.m. mixer, 7:30-9:30 p.m. concert, Oct. 22 , Tempe Center for the Arts
The Herberger Institute Alumni Chapter invites you to join them for an evening of Ray Charles with Perrian Jordan as Brother Ray and the Raelettes, with original arrangements from the great Ray Charles album, Genius + Soul = Jazz.
Other guest performers will include vocalists Dee Alexander, Yvonne Gage and Joan Collaso with Jeff Lindberg as guest director;and Michael Kocour, ASU School of Music associate professor, on the piano and Hammond B3.
The deadline to RSVP has been extended to Friday, Oct. 21. Reduced-rate tickets are available as guests of the Herberger Institute Alumni Chapter. Music students receive 50 percent off with student ID. The event is likely to sell out, so don’t delay.

The Design School Homecoming Open House, 5-8 p.m., Oct. 28, Design North, Tempe campus
Come and meet alumni and other Design School students. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres and discuss the work within the school’s disciplines that include: Architecture, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design and Visual Communication.
Block Party, 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Oct. 29, Old Main lawn, Tempe campus
Please join Herberger Institute students and faculty at the ASU Block Party and discover the exciting projects and initiatives underway in the Schools of Art; Arts, Media and Engineering; Dance; Design; Music; and Theatre and Film. Enjoy pre-game refreshments, the Homecoming parade, family creativity areas, interact with fellow alumni and leave a memory on our ”Impressions Wall” while we catch up with you and your life after ASU. The Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts tent is located near the Language and Literature Building.
